Weeping Jujutsu
Weeping style Jujutsu, also referred to as Weeping Willow Jujutsu (also known as Jiu-jitsu or Ju-jitsu) is grappling martial art style that focuses on standing wrist locks used for quickly subduing an attacker. It is an traditional martial art that originated in Japan and evolved among the samurai class.
It is often taught in conjunction with other martial arts like Taekwondo, kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to provide a comprehensive self-defense system.
The term Weeping comes from the idea that the bending one’s wrist causes said opponent to bend just before he is thrown, thus resembling the limbs of the bent Willow tree.
Standing Joint Locks and Control Holds:
The core of the style revolves around 8 different wrist locks using leverage and techniques to immobilize an opponent through joint manipulation and control holds.
Rapid Subdual:
The goal of Weeping Jujutsu is to quickly subdue an attacker with lock, throws, chokes and kicks. Thus making it a suitable martial art for real-world self-defense situations.
Other techniques include leg sweeps, trapping, pins, strangulation, gouging, biting, hair pulling, disengagements, and rapid strikes.
During feudal times it was used in a defensive or offensive manner to kill or subdue one or more weaponless or armed and armored opponents.
Complementary Martial Arts:
It's often combined with other martial arts today like Taekwondo & kickboxing to enhance ones overall self-defense capabilities.
The techniques developed around Weeping Jujutsu follow the principle of using an attacker's energy against them, rather than directly opposing it.
Weeping Jujutsu is an effective methods of self defense that includes not only parrying or blocking strikes, thrusts and kicks, but learning how to receive throws or joint locking techniques (i.e., falling safely and knowing how to "blend" to neutralize a technique's effect), releasing oneself from an enemy's grasp, and changing or shifting one's position to evade or neutralize an attack.
Law Enforcement and Military: The emphasis on standing techniques and quick control holds makes Weeping Jujutsu an appealing martial art to individuals in law enforcement and the military for training in close-quarters combat.
