Tournaments & Demo Teams

Healthy competition is an essential growth component for every athlete. Regardless of age, competition can breed: Good character
A broader view of the arts. Improved skills under pressure Camaraderie. Motivation to work harder.

Tournament completion improves a student’s skills, as they are able to see the progress they have made in a concrete manner. This in turn inspires them, and makes them want to train harder. Tournament demo teams create tremendous opportunity to improve these skills through team camaraderie. As students prepare for tournaments they are encouraged to work harder and as they push one another to improve. This dynamic leads to more excitement in their overall training and thus improved overall skills.

Some students need a goal beyond just a stripe or a belt level. The demo team provides this opportunity not only at the competitive level but at the individual level as well. It turns its members into leaders. Tournament teams breed students of good character, as they offer an outlet for those individuals to compete, remain relevant, and develop as martial artist. Students that participate on the demo team are students not “superstars” that work hard to achieve overall success. After all, when the team wins, the entire school wins! As you can see tournaments and the demo team offer a chance for a students motivation. It’s not about winning or losing its about learning. So go to the tournaments when the opportunity presents itself. Be a part of the demo team. You don’t have to be the best athlete to do either. You just have to have a yes I can winning attitude!

Being a student is tough work.
